Ok so the server.

Open all the time apart from when we hold a race meeting?
If so the races, how long will they be?
Do we take a leaf out of servers like 'Gamers Crib' or do we go our own way?

Ideas and Thoughts please Smile

I don't know Gamers Crib mantra but I'd say if we're not racing then run the server on a cycle of tracks, no password and with 10 min Pract, 15 min Qual and 25 min race. Rinse repeat for all tracks.

The owner of gamers crib has offered to hire a server for us in return for me donating a small amount to his site. I IM or Email him with any changes we wish to make and when and they happen. This was the email:

Initial requirements:

Name: Crash and Burn Racing (maybe put spaces in front so it can be near the top)

Difficulty: Simulation

Weather: Sunny

Track List:

Valencia GP

Zhuhai GP

Magny Cours National

Donnington National

(these will change within 2 or 3 weeks)

Car set: All GT NGT G2 G3 classes [no mods as yet]

Password: OPEN until I email you to password it which could be around once a week and then the password is 'Burning'

Qualifying: 15 mins

Warmup: 10 mins

Race laps: 6

Race details to change upon the email.

When I send an email requesting 'League Conditions' a few days in advance, I would like it to be changed to:

Qualifying: 35 mins

Warmup: 15 mins

Race TIME: 1 Hour 15 minutes

--------------------------------

Now I see you guys want a 25 minute race on the non league cycle I will have it changed as soon as I can. It has come to my realization mike is very much against having this for a month purely as a trial really, as he's not a fan of us not directly controlling the server, which I guess is fair enough.

Yes but WE dont control it. Its ours in name only.
I dont like the idea that he could change it how he wants or what he thinks is best.

Also more than 4 tracks. Add the classics: Monza, Imola, Spa.

lets have 15 lap races, and will whoop be giving the 'SeverGodRights' out? and how can we advertise like he does posting the link to his site if none of us are there personally?

Yes but Ferry is trustworthy and has helped me out a great deal in the past.
I promise everyone he wont do anything we don't want him to.
As previously mentioned It's only temporary to see what effect having our own 24h server has. Mike I do realise you had a few racing incidents which caused arguments with Ferry in the past but that was a long time ago, please trust me to trust him. The server shouldn't take too long to put up, at all.

In the dedicated server there is a commentary option, and I can garuntee he wont be smearing gamerscrib all over it. i'll ask him about it when he's done creating the server which he is doing right now.

Look on the bright side

WE wanted a server to host the Valencia race. WE have one. We now have a 24 hour server so our American members can race and practice. We have our own private passworded channel in the gamers crib team speak server. We can add tracks whenever, and if we all decide to race on a mod, we can have it installed.

We will soon have our own server purchased server.

It's a start and I think we have to be thankful for that.

I've no concerns about this 'Ferry' splashing his site name about, after all it's his server and beggers can't be choosers, if this Gamers Crib is a reputable site then splashing it about might actually attract more members. The only issue I have is that as we don't have direct control than starting/restarting/changing anything to do with the race will be near impossible within any kind of acceptable time scale if members are waiting to race.

But, like I said it's a start and it's not the long term solution.

Me and Mike have both been given 'godpowers'. A program developed inside GTR2 by gamerscrib which allows us to kick, summon next event and next sessions instantly. If we want an addition to the server we ask him and he puts it on, i know it's not direct control but it's definetly a start!

When I request league conditions the race time changes to 1 hour 15 minutes, as does the other session's times. Let's give it a try with our valencia race we planned eh? Everything is on the server, I just need to know when we are going to race to request the league conditions.

Give it a chance:)

Alex,

I never, once hinted that I wasn't willing to give this server a chance. So I'd appreciate it if you don't suggest I'm pouring cold water on the idea Neutral I actually congratulate you on the speed in which you have managed to get something up and running in such a short period of time.
