PostSubject: Season 1. The Provisional Calendar   Mon Jul 07, 2008 7:55 pm

Ok well maybe im getting a bit ahead of myself here but if we are going to start a season after this test race I think its good to start a discussion on when and where we should go.

So here's my idea of what the calendar should look like.

1 Donington Park National
2 Brno GP 2003
3 Spa-Francorchamps GP 2003
4 Anderstorp 2003
5 Enna Pergusa 2003
6 Hockenheim GP 2004
7 Barcelona 2003
8 Magny-Course National
9 Valencia GP 2004
10 Estoril GP 2003
11 Dubai GP 2004
12 Zhuhai GP 2004

They are all built in tracks. Exclusion are monza and imola as I see them as tracks that are favoured by cutters.

However it begs the question how about add-on tracks?

Personally I see that as a way of adding the to season with better tracks, but also allows other awards to be given out. For example, my calendar below.

1 Donington Park National
2 Brno GP 2003
# Le Mans <Enduro Champ>
3 Spa-Francorchamps GP 2003 <Bellof Award>
4 Anderstorp 2003
# Bathurst
5 Enna Pergusa 2003
# Monaco 1979
6 Hockenheim GP 2004
7 Barcelona 2003
# Goodwood < Jim Clark Trophy>
8 Magny-Course National
9 Donington Park GP 2004
10 Valencia GP 2004
11 Estoril GP 2003
12 Dubai GP 2004
# Fuji International Speedway
13 Zhuhai GP 2004
#Sepang

Are you still following?

Also, dates for the events. Should we call them by track name or Race of France or Race of Spain, ect.

I think length of the event should depend on length of track. For example Donny Nat is shorter than Donny GP so Donny nat would have say a race time of 1 hour 45 minuets where as Donny GP will only be for an hour.

This alows some more fun into the season. I may be crazy, tell me what you think. Suggest schedule reshuffle or taking or adding events in.

All thoughts appreciated.

Nice work Mike,

The first thing that hits me is the exclusion of Monza. Now, I know it's hard to please everyone but excluding any track while another is duplicated (Donnington) doesn't make sense to me.

Including mod tracks is ok, as long as they are tested. Tracks that seem fine on single player can be a nightmare for online multiplayer. Not only can they cause crashing of the server but can also be widely out on lap times.

Like I said Mark, suggest what you like its not my decision to say what is and isn't on I was just suggesting some tracks.

I duplicated Donington because I couldn't choose between them Very Happy and Donny nat is a nice track to start off with where as the GP is a better track in season.

Monza always causes havoc im not saying some of the tracks I have suggested dont but its a 'cutters' track and can cause alot of accidents.
Of course now we have a server we can test them tracks and im all for chopping and changing them. The addon tracks I have suggest I have used once which means we will all start and a level playing field.

Le mans - Challenging and nice race track.
Bathurst- The Monaco of down under. Like Le mans a prestige track.
Monaco 1979 - Like above.
Goodwood- Id say the most exciting yet could cause alot of accidents due to fast and open fields.
Fuji International Speedway- The most exciting I feel this could lead to great racing
Sepang - unsure about

I kinda like the idea of other awards but what do you think?

Also when the calendars confirmed we will need to sort out what class we will use.

I say the 3 leaders, Myself, Mike and Mark each nominate 5 tracks, at least 3 must be built in, we then build a season from that.

Built In:
Magny Cours National
Zhuhai GP
Valencia
Add on:
Silverstone 79GP
Goodwood

Maybe a special one off Le Mans and I like the bellof Idea.

PostSubject: Re: Season 1. The Provisional Calendar   Mon Jul 07, 2008 9:57 pm

I think we should just build on the body I created, its why I didnt start your idea. It takes alot of he said this... he said that. I think its better to build and/or demolish my body. It takes alot of hassle.

Is that ok Alex? Im not saying its a bad idea but can we just build on the body I started?

Also I think we should treat this as proper championship. As it stands a majority are from Europe and none from South America and other continents. Keep it as a one country one GP thing or shall we do an FIA special have 2 in the came country but under a different name? For example Braca host the Spanish GP yet Valencia is hosting European GP.

On my current (not in anyway the finished article) here are the continental locations of them.

Europe:
1 Donington Park National [UK]
2 Brno GP 2003 [Czech Republic]
# Le Mans [France]
3 Spa-Francorchamps GP 2003 [Belgium]
4 Anderstorp 2003 [Sweden]
5 Enna Pergusa 2003 [Italy]
# Monaco 1979
6 Hockenheim GP 2004 [Germany]
7 Barcelona 2003 [Sapin]
# Goodwood [UK]
8 Magny-Course National [France]
9 Donington Park GP 2004 [UK]
10 Valencia GP 2004 [Spain]
11 Estoril GP 2003 [Portugal]

Zolder [Holland]
Mondello Park [Ireland]
Imola [Italy]
Monza [Italy]
Jarama [Spain]
Jerez [Spain]
Mallory Park [UK]

Oceania or Australasia :
# Bathurst [Australia]

Adelaide [Australia]
Phillip Island [Australia]

Asia:
12 Dubai GP 2004 [United Arab Emirates]
# Fuji International Speedway [Japan]
13 Zhuhai GP 2004 [China]
# Sepang [Malaysia]

Macau [China...ish]

South America:
Interlagos - São Paulo [Brazil]
Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mexico City [Mexico]

South Africa:
Kyalami [South Africa]

North America:
Indianapolis [USA]
Infineon Raceway [USA]
Watkins Glen [USA]

Orange - Possible tracks also addons

# Anderstorp GP
# Barcelona National
# Brno GP 2004
# Donington Park GP 2003
# Dubai Club
# Dubai International
# Dubai National
# Hockenheim National
# Hockenheim Short
# Imola GP 2004
# Magny-Course GP 2003
# Magny-Course GP 2004
# Monza GP 2003
# Monza GP 2004
# Monza Junior
# Oschersleben B Source
# Oschersleben 2003
# Oschersleben 2004
# Spa-Francorchamps GP 2004
# Valencia Long
# Valencia National

Built in tracks not being used so far.

Also I was thinking. Conditions for races. Europe we'll have changeable if we can set it to that however surely for South America we can keep it sunny.

I really am lost now.

I'm really very happy for you two to fight it out on the calendar, tracks and car class. All I'd like to suggest to that is I don't think having a track duplicated in the same calandar is particuarly logical. Lots of folk could argue that they don't like the fact that their favourite isn't in the list. But defending why it isn't included is harder to justify if someone elses favourite is duplicated.

I appreciate the work your putting in but I dont udnerstand why we are having about 875 tracks. I'd prefer to have multiple series running, or even two, like GT and NGT, and alternating between weeks with a calendar of 8 tracks or so.

Anyway, lets just get the first race on.

Look post 1 is a suggestion as is my previous post. I've listed all the tracks avialabel and I would like you all to choose.

Ok would you answers these questions please :

Keep it as a one country one GP thing or shall we do an FIA special have 2 in the came country but under a different name? For example Braca host the Spanish GP yet Valencia is hosting European GP.

and out of the built in tracks (in yellow) that I left out would you like any of them in?

and the Tracks (in orange) would you like to add?

and is there current tracks I said originally that you would like taken out?

Shall we try have a race in every continent?

I can see im making it complicated but I want to make sure we aren't missing tracks that you would like or would be interesting.

Admittedly id say Mark you correct on the duplicated track I have taken one out but as I said keep the discussion on tracks coming

1 Donington Park National
2 Brno GP 2003
# Le Mans <Enduro Champ>
3 Spa-Francorchamps GP 2003 <Bellof Award>
4 Anderstorp 2003
# Bathurst
5 Enna Pergusa 2003
# Monaco 1979
6 Hockenheim GP 2004
7 Barcelona 2003
# Goodwood < Jim Clark Trophy>
8 Magny-Course National
9 Valencia GP 2004
10 Estoril GP 2003
11 Dubai GP 2004
# Fuji International Speedway
12 Zhuhai GP 2004
#Sepang

Edit :

Alex I'd like to keep it 1 championship for the first season. As it stands there is 3 maybe 4 maybe 5 starting this championship. I understand we could say every time we race NGT we record that in a separate championship but if its on with you Alex for this first 13- 15 race season can we keep it 1 championhsip until we get more members?

I mean why so many tracks and special events. The league in my opinion will drag out to long, and we;l have maybe 4 racers at this point.

But if we had multiple championships consisting of less races it offers more variation and a chance for a slower members to win, should we have any that is Razz

But multiple championships between 4 racers? I cant see it. Alex what I want you to do is build on my original calendar using the tracks in yellow and orange.

take the body, swap em around take some off add new ones. That's why I started this. Mark you too and any other member who wants to do the same. Please take apart my idea if you like I just think its easy to do it like this instead of, I want this track and this track....

Please answere these questions

Also how many rounds do you want?

When will they be?

Keep it as a one country one GP thing or shall we do an FIA special have 2 in the came country but under a different name? For example Braca host the Spanish GP yet Valencia is hosting European GP.

and out of the built in tracks (in yellow) that I left out would you like any of them in?

and the Tracks (in orange) would you like to add?

and is there current tracks I said originally that you would like taken out?

Shall we try have a race in every continent?

Edit@: also if your not happy with my Calendar we could decided how many races we want from each continent and the vote the tracks of the same country off against each other until we get down to a track per country and then we cut the calendar down to XX amount of races.

Just an idea.

If i have to be picky (and yes I do)

1 Donington Park GP 2004
2 Brno GP 2003
3 Spa-Francorchamps GP 2003
4 Anderstorp 2003
5 Enna Pergusa 2003
6 Hockenheim GP 2004
7 Perhaps 1 add on track. I'd nominate Adeliede or Goodwood,
8 Magny-Course National
9 Donington Park National
10 Valencia GP 2004
11 Dubai GP 2004
12 Zhuhai GP 2004
13 Magny Cours GP 2004

Other than that fine

So, imo we should have 1 or 2 add ons, keep it simple, We should not concentrate on variations of continents. less than 15 events, etc. other than that go for it.

3 Le Mans <Enduro Champ>
4 Spa-Francorchamps GP 2003 <Bellof Award>
5 Bathurst OR Adeliede
6 Enna Pergusa 2003

13 Dubai GP 2004
14 Zhuhai GP 2004
15 Estoril GP 2003
------------------------------------------------------------
16 Macau End of season event

The reason I have put Macau as an end of season event as its the f3000 prestige event, so why not have an end of season fun event?

Alex I've taken your ideas on board and I think that's what the calendar should look like in my eyes, what do you think?

Mark also.

All seems good but for end of season event I think we should have maybe a special track like Pikes Peak in GT class or 'Dragon' which is a fictional track but very fun and very challenging. you can check boht out on no grip.

Macau is a challenging track I would like to put it on the calendar but I wanted to keep 15 races as per your instruction, so I propose can we make it 16 races and then have a fun end of season event?

Macau as the last race if the championship is going down to the wire will be a hell of a race.

5 Bathurst OR Adeliede
6 Enna Pergusa 2003

11 Magny-Course National

13 Dubai GP 2004
14 Zhuhai GP 2004
15 Macau <Champion is Crowned>
------------------------------------------------------------
<Enter track here> End of season event

OK that fine by me and alex, Mark your ideas appreciated.

Now how do you feel about the awards?

The 3 I suggested:
Peter Brock Trophy - Bathurst OR Adeliede
Bellof Award - Spa
Jim Clark Trophy - Goodwood

The reason I added these awards was for a bit more fun so if we have an end of season summary then we have more to give out the Champion.

Any you'd like to add? We could do fastest laps of something like that?
